Incredible Little LifeBook
Date: February 9, 2010
Pros: Design, Durability, Weight, Features, fingerprint sensor
Cons: Battery Life
I bought my LifeBook in 2007 for the small and innovative Tablet PC design. 2 1/2 years later, even after the proliferation of netbooks, people are still asking me at the coffee shop what kind of computer I have. This is a unique platform. The Fujitsu standard of quality is very high. I haven't experienced a single issue with my LifeBook and I use it constantly as a college instructor and graduate student. I'm a software development instructor (and former systems analyst) so I am picky about my gadgets. The Fujitsu LifeBook passes the test!

purchased (2) P1630 2 GB RAM, 80 GB HD
Date: January 22, 2010
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Weight, Keyboard, bluetooth
Cons: no hard mount
These P1630 will be used as EFB's, I selected solid state HD, and the extended batteries. The work great in the cockpit. And to date are the best EFB's I have used. I have experience with 4 other EFB's. They are fast, light weight and small. These are a Class II installation. I am running vista, jeppview, flightstar and ultrnav. Garmin GPS X works great with this as well. Throught the Bluetooth I have hooked up the GPS and a printer that is. bluetooth as well. Less cords/wires in the cockpit (CL60). I would buy this product again and from this website, they are very competitive with the pricing. -kinger

P1630
Date: August 20, 2009
Pros: Weight
Cons: Design, Keyboard
Got the base configuration, performance is pretty poor running Vista due to the 1 gb of ram, but I am using XP. Very light and portable, and I can read small text on the screen fine, although some people find it difficult. The keyboard is, of course, tiny, but that comes with the small screen size. However, I don't like the texture and flat tops of the keys. Also, the center hinge is a little loose, moving too easily in notebook mode to make using the easy. The passive digitizer doesn't work as well as some active ones I've tried, and the standard pen is small and pretty uncomfortable. Battery life is good with the extended battery. Overall, a solid tablet that is great if you need something light enough to carry around all day.

P1630
Date: July 11, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Weight, Features
Cons: need a daylight viewable screen, price
I bought the P1630 with SSD to use with Jeppesen Flight Deck / Jeppview. The DVD/CD drive would not read the Jepp Disks and Jepp sent replacement ones. Still would not read. Bought HP USB DVD and it worked perfect. Bought a generic Bluetooth GPS and found the Bluetooth drivers had not been installed. After locating and installing them the device was found but would not talk to Flight-Deck. Un-installed and re-installed and it now works. Size and weight are perfect for Aviation. Had to remove a lot of bundled software that kept wanting attention such as Arcsoft so could focus on the job of running Jeppview Flightdeck. Currently looking for a way to turn-off magnifier that keeps popping up un-wanted. If I could add anything to this machine it would be a daylight viewable screen. This one washes out in bright sunlight.

Pros: Design, Screen Size, Weight, Keyboard
Cons: Battery Life
I have the SSD drive. The entire system works great as an EFB, except the screen could be a bit brighter.
Overall a great product at the right price. The best solution if you are using Jeppesen NavSuite and Flightdeck, at least think so.
I'm using a BT GPS with it. Flawless integration.

Great Tablet
Date: March 22, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Weight, Features
Cons: Keyboard
P1620 tablet came with a 32Gb SSD, and XP-Pro pre-installed with Vista upgrade etc. Tablet boots up to full windows screen in just 1 minute. Screen size of 8.9 inches is wide enough to web browse easily. Battery life is over 3 hours. The installed Fujitsu tools are great for any fine tuning of display and tablet functions.
Great amount of processing and productivity in a small package.

Fujitsu Experiences
Date: March 8, 2009
Pros: Design, Durability, well-designed
Cons: backup operating system to dvd didn't work
The computer has worked well.
I would purchase it again. However, compared to the competition, it is relatively expensive.
The processor is reasonably fast; and, most importantly, it came (in my configuration) with 2GB RAM (essential for Windows Vista).
However:
(1) The Backup Operating System to DVD didn't work,
(2) The Trusted Platform Module Drivers software was supposed to cover Microsoft Outlook, but it was set up for Outlook 2003, not (!) Outlook 2007
(3) The hard drive cannot be replaced w/o returning the computer to Fujitsu

Good Little Computer
Date: January 29, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Weight
Cons: Keyboard
I bought this little computer to replace a UMPC tablet that had an almost useless keyboard and suffered from excruciatingly slow restarts. So far, after three weeks on the road, I can say that I have been very satisfied. Everything works as expected and I have had few problems. This is used as an instrument controller and display as its primary application. I also decided to replace my old 14" notebook and carry just one computer when I travel. Although it is a bit less easier to use than the old D***, It works acceptably. My only complaints are that I am having to get used to the smaller keyboard with my chubby old fingers and I have concerns about the durability long term of the swivel and it was a bit pricey considering the features. I would have liked an addition gig or two of RAM. Also, if you get this computer go ahead and get the big hard drive. I did not (my mistake trying to save a buck or two) and the Vista installation along with my disk hog applications consumed 1/2 the space on the small drive.

Almost perfect for airplane use above 10,000 feet
Date: December 17, 2008
Pros: Design, Durability, Weight, Keyboard, Features
Cons: Battery Life, display in direct sunlight
Owning a P1600 which I use in the cockpit, I only had problems above 10,000 feet due to the limitations of the hard disk. The P1630 has a better display and I bought it with 64GB SD drive. The display is much better as the one of the P1600, but it is still almost unreadable in sunlight. The extended battery gives me about 4 hours of work time in a heavy usage situation. Everything else is top notch, same as with my P1600. These are almost the only notebooks left where the quality is not compromised by cost cutting. You get what you pay for!

Happy with P1630 but initially disappointed.
Date: December 17, 2008
Pros: Battery Life, Weight, Features, Security, tablet
Cons: Screen Size, Keyboard, bundled software
This was my first experience with an UMPC and my first with Fujitsu. The wireless did not work well on secured connections. Tried to download new driver. No P1630 download page yet (since resolved). Used the P1620 driver. This fixed the wireless. System Restore DVD make utility failed with my LaCie DVD+/RW. Finally had to fake it out with VirtualCD and 8gb USB key. Then used the LaCie on another machine to generate the DVD. ArcSoft software supplied kept reminding me to register except it wouldn't accept the registration. Now it keeps suggesting that I download videos used ArcSoft software. I don't need the continuous advertising. Fujitsu starts so many tasks under Vista that a 1gb machine is inadequate. But I do like the machine and it fufills the mission it was meant to fulfill which is to provide realtime access to charts in the corporate aircraft using the tablet PC capability. I'm very happy with the battery life (I bought the extra capacity batttery).
