Awesome
Date:July 11, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Screen Size, 802.11a, windows 7 pro
Ownership time: 1 month
Pros:
Good Security, Windows 7 Pro (Can add it to your domain), Bio Reader, good battery life, 802.11a, and lightweight. Love that it has a smart card reader, but we haven’t tried using this yet.
Cons:
Finger touch input not as good as an ipad, but then again it runs windows 7 which outweighs the IOS. No place to store the pen.
We have been using a lot of different mobile devices ie: ipad, Asus T91MT, Fujitsu Lifebook U820, Moto Zoom, and this has been the best tablet so far that meets the needs for what were using it for. A+ Good Job Fujitsu!
Were looking forward to buying a few more of them.

Amazing!! What the iPad was supposed to be!!
Date:June 8, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Keyboard, Screen Size
I got the Slate Tablet PC 3 days ago and all I can say is WOW!!! It truly is a laptop (a really fast laptop) that is the size of the iPad. It can do everything your desktop can do and it uses WiFi and 3G so you can always have a computer with you that is connected to the internet.
It has microsoft office on it which is awesome and plugs into projectors if you need to give a presentation on the fly. It also has an ethernet port and a USB port. I use it to run a high powered trading platform from and I am thrilled with it!! This is everything that me and me team of traders has been looking for!!
Buy yourself a new slate, you wont be sorry. We just ordered one for everyone in our trading team. This is everything we had thought the iPad was going to be. Battery life with full useage is around 7 hours- 7 HOURS!!! What laptop can say that?

Response from Fujitsu:By Patricia CavagnarieCommerceJuly 11, 2011
Michael,
Thank you for the fantastic STYLISTIC Q550 Slate PC product review!
We at Fujitsu are very happy to hear the product is working great for you and your team!
We do want to make a small clarification in that the Q550 does not have an ethernet port. The ports available on the STYLISTIC Q550 Slate PC are: one HDMI port, one bootable USB 2.0 port, one DC In connector, one headphone/line out jack, and one docking connector.

Q550 & Win8
Date:March 23, 2012
Pros: Weight, Design, Durability, Battery Life, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard, need faster processor
Prior to a trip to Siberia, I purchased the larger Q550 to replace my old travelin' buddy, a little Fuji lifebook. Smaller, lighter, what's not to like, right? Not so fast. Running win7, this was pretty pokey. Even an add on keyboard, while proving better functionality, the slate frustratingly slow. But an upgrade to win8 made all the difference. Now this is relatively speedy and easy to use. Office works well and the trial apps are working well. If you want a decent tablet with Windows customization and functionality, this will work for reading the newspaper and staying in touch. But if you need word processing or photo editing, wait for a Fuji ultrabook.

Great portable device for the field
Date:March 15, 2012
Pros: Weight, Battery Life, Screen Size
Cons: Durability
We tested the Q550 as an outdoor data collection device in an R&D program. Our impression is very good- good battery life and outdoor readibility is good when compared to other devices. Weight is light enough to carry all day. The ability to swap batteries and have a seperate battery charger is a must for us. Other devices in this class sometimes have permanent batteries.
Our only concerns are there does not appear to be a way to seal the device from the environment - a rugged case or such, and we wish the touch screen responded more quickly to finger taps. We find we need to use a "tap and hold" rather than the desired "tap" to click on something.
Overall - good device.

College girl liked it
Date:March 10, 2012
Pros: Weight, Design, Battery Life, Screen Size
Been using the Slate for about 8 months now.
As a college kid, I fall into a unique sort of niche with what I wanted. I wanted something I could use to organize away handwritten notes, something with a long battery life, and something under 2 lbs. I researched a lot on such a device across different laptop/tablet models, OS and apps, and was set on this Slate.
My review centers on that usage with Microsoft OneNote 2010...something that came with college tuition.
I study computer-related things and my day job deals with computers; I'm not an artist or someone needing to write essays.
I picked this up with my priority as a productivity tablet, my main use for it to replace handwritten notes- I've used OneNote 2010 with a few school notebooks and it's just been lovely. It replaced the need to carry textbooks and paper and various colored pens and felts and markers about as I just use them digitally. I don't convert my notes to handwriting as I actually want them digitally handwritten, but I make the effort to teach Windows my handwriting.
I had done a backup of the manufacturer install and after trying out an os upgrade (silly move I did) and needing to revert back, this was fine but I went for a clean install. I have pretty portable usage for my Slate, with my Notebooks stored on Windows Live and anything else I like to back up on a usb flash drive and sdcard. I turned off the autoscreen rotation.
The Atom processor does need to think a bit at times when I'm writing in OneNote but overall I have liked the Slate.
It's great to get the latest software/drivers for the N-Trig pen.. calibrate the pen... set up the Windows Swipe... I also did my custom power settings. People who complain about the battery overheating, well, on a smooth wooden table it hasn't heated up. When charging, I lean it upright to keep it cool through the night, or if it must be on a heat-blocking table and in use a careful indention of newspaper raising it up keeps it cool, or laying the screen on something safe and having the battery facing up when not in use for a long period. Don't charge it for hours on, say, a carpet. : D
For my usage, I find the cameras, hdmi port, speaker, headphone jack, dock port, dual mics, fingerprint reader, to just be little extras. I don't play music or watch video with it. I did use the mics in the past for recording and the recording is great, but it would pick up the pen but I do have a tablet I use on the side which is good for that and other multimedia needs. The hdmi port nicely lets me use a second monitor which I'd use to extend my display so have my textbook on the other screen and my Notebook on the slate. The second monitor being a tv that has that functionality.
I didn't need a keyboard but a docking station does exist.. but then I wouldn't have gotten the Slate if that was important to me :p I didn't choose the Slate for heavy typing although I can plug in a keyboard/mouse usb radio in the usb port and have a fullsized keyboard, mouse, AND pen on the super rare crunch-time occasion.
I've taken good care of it and spent little cash there.. there are dollar store sheet protectors which still let me write through to OneNote if I'm worried about getting crumbs/drink spilled on it, and there are decent hardcover paper notebook cases, one of which I replaced paper with and use its pocket as a sleeve for my Slate, which altogether is a good case that also has a place for me to store my n-trig pen in- no need to tether for me. On the occasion that a keyboard will help with the ctrl-c/v necessities during class I have a palm-sized bluetooth keyboard, but outside of that I'm comfortable with the onscreen keyboard.

Don't Buy Waste of Your Time and Money
Date:March 2, 2012
Cons: Features, Design, not loaded with windows journal, not have a place to store the stylus pen, does not have a dvd read/writer, has only one usb port
the slate is a great concept, the ability to have an ipad size pc but with the functional pen to be able to write on it with your hand without needing a keyboard. However, it is not well designed. The slate has no place to conveniently store your pen, which means you have to carry your pen dangling from a tether everywhere you go or you have to risk damaging your stylus pen by putting it in your pocket. The slate does not have a DVD read/write, so if you need to install any programs or download any data, you can't without having to buy the accessory external DVD, which means you have to carry two pieces of equipment instead of one piece of equipment with you at all times. The slate came with about 3 or 5 pre-installed programs, it was pathetically built. Worst of all, it does not have the Windows Journal application which means that the stylus pen device is just for looks, because unless you plan to be drawing cartoons with Paint or some other program, it's not going to get put to any good use besides that. I was utterly disappointed. I need a powerful, mobile workstation, not a pretty toy.

Extremely under powered...horrible!
Date:February 29, 2012
Pros: Durability, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard, Battery Life, Features, Design, processor, memory
This tablet is a waste of money. I can't even believe they would have used the Atom processor. This thing barely powers Win XP, let alone Windows 7. The touch function is pitiful and it needs more ram as well. Sometimes a light touch works, other times a hard touch and sometime you need to bang the screen a couple times. STAY AWAY FROM THIS!

Pros: Design, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Keyboard, Screen Size
Cons: Weight
At first I did not like this tablet because I was use to the android tablets. But now that I have had it for a while I love my stylistic Q550 it sinks up with my windows computers with ease. Other features that I like are the numerous ports, and the removable batterie. When I purchased this tablet I also purchased the optional writer. I was unsure if I would like it, bit it works great. It give you another option for loading information onto the tablet.

Pros: Design, Security
Cons: Battery Life, cases not great
This is your best option if you need a Windows platform in a tablet device.. The touch isn't as responsive as a regular tablet but the stylus works great... Battery life is about 4 hours constantly.. Speed was actually faster than I expected and the screen is very bright and easy to see..

Q550 Slate PC 62
Date:February 25, 2012
Pros: Weight, Design, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard, processing power, ease of use, cooling
Big fan of Fujitsu products, as a matter of fact I'm writing this review from a Fujitsu laptop. That being said I recently purchased a Q550 the more expensive of the original two models and in my honest opinion the flaws outweigh the pros.
Whats good about it is the design, its sleek and comfortable. I had no problems with internet connection and browsing speed was comparable to a laptop. You can also use Powerpoint (and write on the slides), plus all the other microsoft office programs.
Whats bad about it is you cannot watch videos online, netflix, etc... as even with small clips the video is choppy.
Windows 7 is nice but you can tell it wasnt designed with a tablet in mind. What I mean by this is there are some applications that require an external keyboard as the on screen one wont pop up. To restore the system you will need an external disk drive. I can go on about this topic but just know it shouldnt be a deal breaker.
The things that really bug me is that it heats up to a point where you dont want to hold it anymore whenever its charging. The onscreen handwriting system is GREAT but needs to be improved for ease of use. The pen should really have a slot for storage in the system its a real nuisance. One last thing finding applications to open for personalization is kind of a hassle unless your tech savvy.
Overall, I really like where Fujitsu was going with this tablet but I think they should really consider customer and reviewer feedback on the product and push out a tweaked and more powerful tablet sometime soon, and try to include a more powerful processor. Maybe Windows 8 will work better for a tablet... so I'm waiting for a new product.

Date:February 18, 2012
Pros: Design, Battery Life
Cons: Durability, screen response
In the past I had several Fujitsu tablets. I bought Q550 with a lot enthusiasm. However, the interface has a lot to be desired. The screen is not responsive. The touch pan needs batteries and they don't last more than a couple of days.
I do not recommend Q550 unless they make substantial improvement in the interface.

Pros: Weight, Design, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard
I needed a small light weight computer that I could take with me out into the field to review pictures, this fills the bill. I have tried a couple of android tablets but they didn't have the proccessing power for my photographs, this does. I found that the tablets would take me 3/4 of the way and stop, lightweight, small size, good processing speed, could use a larger hard drive though. The soft key board is a little slugish at times with fingers have leard to use touch pen

Very Disappointed
Date:January 12, 2012
Pros: Weight, Design
Cons: Features, functionality, speed, cannot add ram, touchscreen
I am extremely disappointed with my purchase of this tablet. I use this tablet to run one program and one program only, and it does so at a ridiculously slow pace. The touchscreen function is a joke, it's extremely inaccurate and very sluggish at best. I bought this tablet for my work and I chose Fujitsu due to their reputation in the business community. This unit has had a very negative impact on my productivity. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Absolute Piece of Junk
Date:December 23, 2011
Cons: Design, does not function
I have owned my Q550 for less then 24 hours and it is a failed experiment. I have been using talblet PC's for the last 5 years and was ready to upgrade. After researching and looking at several reviews I chose to buy a Q550. I wanted to check the news today and decided to try out the tablet and the stylist does not work nor does finger touch input. I experienced this last night but thought we will see in the morning. It did not work and I am returning it.

Military Friendly
Date:December 1, 2011
Pros: Weight, Security, Battery Life, Screen Size
Cons: Design, Durability, sound, processor
I have had the Q550 for about 2 months now this is my first tablet and for the most part it is OK. The plastic case is not that sturdy and if you don’t use the stylist and use your finger instead the screen will start to get hot spots where the pointer will automatically go back to. I have to bend the tablet to get the screen to act right again. Also I made the mistake of putting a putting a micro SD in the slot inside the battery compartment and took the tablet completely apart to get it out when all it took was a sticky tab to get it out. I had it in about 4 pieces, it doesn’t take a special tool like the I Pad, and now that I got it back together it still works fine.
-The sound is not all that great and after looking inside they had room for more but I guess they sacrificed it for battery life.
+Battery life is good
-Video is very glitchy, even with VLC, and Nero 7
+ This tablet is military friendly and will work with AKO, mypay and lotus form viewer 3.5.1 with approveit signing capability.
-I find myself having to use my fingernail to move the power button because it is too smooth.
-The stylist cord that comes with the tablet is cheap and weak; I switched it for the one that came with my HP touch screen, the stylist does come with 2 tips though.
I got the bumper case from Fujitsu and 2 docking stations. The bumper case needed some tweaking, one of the elastic straps covers CAC Card slot and there is nothing protecting the screen. I took mine to a shoe repair shop and got a leather front cover with Velcro sewn on, and a leather pocket sewn on the back where the ID card slot is for my wireless hub. The tip of the stylist is not protected while in the case and can come off, if that occurs you’ll be screwed until you get to a mouse.

2nd Fujitsu tablet
Date:November 24, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Durability, Screen Size
I purchased the Q550 to replace, or supplement, an old Fujitsu Stylistic tablet. The Stylistic provided many years of satisfactory service and I wanted to stick with Fujitsu. The only problem I have with the Q550, to date, is getting used to the touchscreen. It takes multiple taps to get a response and finger placement is critical. It isn't anything like an IPad touchscreen. I use the pen for most functions and use the touch feature for scrolling long lists.
