nice *light* laptop
Date: December 6, 2009
Pros: Screen Size, Weight, Keyboard
Cons: speakers
Have had this laptop--my first Fujitsu--since late September, and so far so good. Pros: it's very lightweight and compact and seemily very efficiently designed. Cons: lousy, tinny and weak speakers. Other than the speakers, two thumbs up!

Light, compact, yet not too small
Date: November 21, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Durability, Weight, Features
This laptop is just right. It is a great combination of portability and features. Keyboard is excellent (although, admittedly I miss the keyboard on my Fujitsu N3010). Screen is a good size, even if the resolution is only 1280x800. One of my best laptops yet.

Second Fujitsu Notebook
Date: November 2, 2009
This is my second Fujitsu notebook. I loved my first one, a N Series model. This new notebook is also good. I like how light it is and still has a decent screen for viewing. I did buy an external monitor to use when not traveling. The speed componet was really important, and I did upgrade to 4 gigs of RAM plus the faster hard drive. The only disappointment I have with the system so far is the matte screen; I prefer a gloss screen. So far all is working well. I expect that I will again receive very good tech support from Fujitsu, but it is too early to know for sure.

Falls just short of perfection
Date: September 5, 2009
Pros: Battery Life, Screen Size, Weight
Cons: speakers, webcam
I bought my last HP laptop four years ago so I was good and ready for a new one as I use it constantly for work. I LOVE how light this is. It's less than 4 lbs without the optical drive. I haven't even needed to use the second battery in my meetings! (if you buy the extra battery you can put it in where the DVD drive is and swap it out. In my case I just leave the drive empty to make it ultra light).
I do love everything but there are two things that are sup par for me: 1) The speakers are about the quality of a mini AM Radio from a .99 cent store. Really? Two grand and I can't have decent speakers? And, 2) the webcam works like I'm on the space shuttle. Very jittery, slow and grainy. I will be buying an external one for skyping.
Other than those - minor - issues, this is a great, LIGHT, powerful computer and I am happy!

Good 14" business notebook
Date: July 5, 2009
Pros: Battery Life, Screen Size, Weight
Cons: Keyboard
I recently purchased the S6520 because it was one of the lightest 14" business notebooks available with dedicated gpu. The S6520 offers good CPU/GPU/RAM performance, though the 5400 rpm hdd emphasizes low power usage over speed (more so than other 5400 drives I've used). The Chrome 430 is an acceptable substitute for the more common offerings from ati and nvidia in 14" business machines. The display is one of the better ones that I've seen on 14" machines - bright, glossy, but not overly reflective, with good contrast. Battery life is good, even with the dedicated gpu. With the bay battery installed, I can get over 6 hours in "real life" conditions: display at reasonable brightness, WiFi on, etc. Other positives include exceptional customer service (in my experience).
On the negative side of the ledger, the keyboard suffers from a bit of flex and Fujitsu does not offer a 2nd hard drive kit for the modular bay in the S6520. That will be irrelevant for 90% of customers, perhaps. Those looking for the best possible performance will be disappointed to learn they cannot boot from a primary SSD and use the modular bay to add a platter hard disk for extra storage capacity.

Great Product
Date: July 4, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Durability, Weight, Keyboard, Features
Cons: speakers
I am pleased with my first Fujitsu notebook computer. This product is very easy to setup. I did not know it when I purchased, but it is not loaded up with useless software and that means that you can get this product running much faster than any of the competitors products and the computer performance is not affected by a lot of software you do not need. Thank you, Fujitsu!
The computer is well built and obviously of high quality which should give users high reliability. I have lots of memory and the highest speed chip, so the performance is excellent. Battery life is excellent with almost four hours before recharge.
The pointer works differently than what I am used to (you can set it in motion with your finger and it will continue to move). A call to support confirmed that it works that way because of the screen size. After using it a while, I like it better because it allows you to navigate across the screen easier.
I would have rated the computer with 5 stars and given it an excellent rating except that I was disappointed in the quality of the speakers. A computer of this quality should sound a lot better that it does.

Great, until the power socket failed
Date: June 22, 2009
Pros: Design, Screen Size, Weight
Cons: Battery Life, Durability, fragile power socket
This is my second lifebook; my first took me through all of undergrad and was still functional (although creaky and slow next to all the newer laptops) when I finally replaced it.
This lifebook has been with me a little over two years. I loved it, loved the portability, loved the hidden power, loved the huge screen, and was willing to put up with the ridiculously short battery life (below 15 min after three months) since Fujitsus have those lovely long power cords. My little computer was a champ, taking on 3D computer modelling usually reserved for its beefier desktop cousins, and traveled around the world with me without complaint.
Then, my lifebook completely stopped charging. With a lot of wiggling and luck and cursing and just the perfect angle, it might charge for a few seconds, but that's all. The previously-mentioned short battery life was barely long enough to rescue my most vital files, but my lifebook is now reduced to a very expensive brick. Reading online forums, this failure is extremely common due to a weak connection on the board, and mandates a repair so pricey it makes more sense to just replace the machine.
I loved Fujitsu computers because they ran forever and new computers were upgrades, not replacements. This sort of designed failure angers me.

What a great laptop!
Date: June 21, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Durability, Weight, Keyboard, Features
I have owned 3 fujitsu laptops prior to this purchase, and I was always quite satisfied. For my newest purchase I asked around and based on what others recommended, I tried some other options first. There was one Dell and two Sony Vaios...I returned each one. NONE matched the quality, performance, form, and features of the Fujitsu. I shall not waste time on the others again. Fujitsu is the best!

Pros: Weight, reliability
Cons: Battery Life, speaker quality
This is my 3rd Fujitsu since '96. The first, the Montego, lasted 7 yrs without a hiccup. The second, an S6120, lasted until I inadvertently sat it in a puddle of water. I love my S6520.
I am a fujitsu fan because these laptops hardly ever breakdown. They're very reliable. And I need reliability as I use them in a professional environment.

Best combination of weight and performance
Date: February 20, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Weight
Cons: cannot find one
This is my second fujitsu laptop, the former one is p7010, still good to use. The reason to change is because I need a larger screen for reading. Because of the good experience with p7010, I wanna trust Fujitsu again. If you compare the screen quality of the similar laptops, you will find Fujitsu's screen is the best one for long time reading. Also, its battery quality is also long enough for business purpose.

Fujitsu S6520
Date: January 15, 2009
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Durability, Weight
Cons: Keyboard
This is my second Lifebook S series laptop in the last three years. The only reason I gave up my first was because I had the chance to give it to another co-worker and by a faster model. I do not believe any laptop offers more bang for the buck than the S6520. You can spend less but at the expense of carrying more weight or stuck with a slower machine. Price per pound/speed - this is the best laptop on the market.

Beautiful Notebook!
Date: January 5, 2009
Pros: Design, Screen Size, Durability, Weight, Keyboard, Features
Cons: Battery Life, vista business
What a great piece of technology!
It has a beautiful bright screen, and a great keyboard that is white and easy to see in low light conditions. The speakers sound great, although they are inefficient and don't deliver very high volume levels compared to headphones. The synaptics mousepad is very high tech, with lots of additional features, including a "pinch" control that allows zooming and continuous scrolling. It was a bit more sensitive than I am used to, and since I have big hands and am not a great typists, I find it a little too sensitive for me.
I would recommend a downgrade to Windows XP from Vista, though.
Vista consumes a large portion of my 320 G hard drive and burns through the batteries, delivering only 4 hours of service with the computer set to power saver. Vista negates the advantages of Intel's Centrino2 power saving technology. Furthermore, I can't view my photos in thumbnails with Vista Business, so my photo editing and imaging is impaired. I can't transfer my iTunes library from my old XP machine, because the music skips and stutters on the Vista OS machine.
I have noticed a few glitches in the DVD viewing software, which again is probably Vista related, since this software runs great on other computers I have owned.
This is my second Fujitsu S6000 series notebook. My first one was an indestructible road warrior, and I outgrew the 60 G hard drive. This one is better in every way, except for the operating system, which just isn't notebook or consumer friendly.

Great laptop -- exceeded expectations
Date: December 24, 2008
Pros: Design, Battery Life, Screen Size, Durability, Weight, Keyboard, Features, Security
I was looking for a laptop that was thin & light and had S-video and HDMI output. This was the only one I found that fit the bill as most manufacturers are switching exclusively to HDMI output, a move which is premature in my opinion.
The laptop is very light (about 4lbs) and the fact that you get a 14 inch screen is an extra bonus. The screen is very bright, and has 8 levels of brightness control. I hardly ever use it at maximum brightness.
The speakers are one complaint: at maximum sound volume the audio sounds harsh and a bit tinny. I use ear buds or headphones as necessary.
Battery life seems excellent, although I normally use A/C power. The keyboard is excellent, One quibble the FN-key is half-width, which is irritating since it's the only half-width key on the whole keyboard. But apart from the keys are pretty much full-size and the keyboard seem as good as Thinkpad keyboards, which are generally considered to set the standard.
The laptop does not come pre-installed with a lot of bloatware which was a relief. Although this was my first experience using Vista, it's been trouble-free except for a few irritants like having to configure it so that the "Run" menu shows up and learning where control panels have moved.
HDMI output is excellent, although I quickly realized for saving multiple display configurations that the "Fujitsu Display Manager" does not do as good a job as the "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver".
Overall, the S6520 exceeded my expectations in every category.

14-inch Screen & 4 lbs, unbeatable combination
Date: December 18, 2008
Pros: Design, Screen Size, Weight, Keyboard
I bought the machine for its combination of lightweight and good screen size, as well as the small footprint. The idea was to have a machine that could slip into a daypack and easily be carried around on the street, through train stations and airports, and be on my back as I moved about working with a camera. At 4 pounds and with a 14 inch screen, there was no other equivalent product available. I wish it was cheaper, but comparing the 13 inch screen lightweight products with the Fujitsu 14 inch screen, I just had to have the larger screen size and lightweight combo. It was tough paying up the price, but I am happy with the purchase and would do it again despite the plethora of bargain-priced machines that weigh more or have the smaller screens.
