Date:May 8, 2012
Cons: Keyboard, Screen Size, bad pen
Not only is it the size of a portable DVD player, making typing and looking at the small screen uncomfortable, but the pen doesn't work as well as it does on other models. On my previous fujitsu computer, I was able to write and draw on my screen with ease. On this one, however, the writing often comes out looking squiggly as if the computer was vibrating while I was writing on it, and lines appear out of nowhere around my writing. Friends who also bought this computer complained about similar things. I would strongly suggest you go with a different model.

Fujitsu T580 tablet critique
Date:April 26, 2012
Pros: Weight, Security, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard, Design, handwriting software
I thought when I purchased this model; hand rest area would be similar to my Lifebook 4110D 12". This hand rest is too narrow, very uncomfortable if typing; wrist falls off bottom when fingers are placed on the home row for touch typing. (I have small female hands) and after a short while (5 Min) wrist hurts, not good, could cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Even if the laptop is placed on a desk, the angle of the wrist hanging down to the desk puts the wrist in an un-straight angle. Good thing I plan on using it mostly as a handwriting tablet. Perhaps I should have ordered the 12” instead.
Space used by tablet at the top of the keyboard when rotated and laid flat would have been enough extra space added to bottom. I definitely now I will use the keyboard as little as possible unless I have the wrist pad I created right after writing the previous paragraph. The wrist pad was created out of an old rubber keyboard wrist pad which fortunately was of the proper height (an inch and a half width pad to run parallel with the keyboard) and It feels like that might work. It is one more thing to carry around but the immediate discomfort of typing on this keyboard without it is not something I wish to experience ever again!
This is the disadvantage to purchasing online and not having a chance to try out in a store first like I did with the refurbished 4110D.
Handwriting software doesn’t allow for inserting spaces between written words or adding a space to left or right or deleting the space while using the pad. I have gone back to my old 4110D for doing the handwriting of my computer work as the older handwriting software allows more ease for corrections.
I do like that the Touch module can be turned off which prevents the screen moving behind when using the handwriting mode. I returned an Asus EP121 12” tablet PC because of that problem.
The size makes it very easy to stash into a large purse and I had purchased the handle and it worked well enough but the screen does not stayed closed (no latch like the 4120D) so carrying it that way causes it to flap and things can get stuck between the keyboard and the screen when placed in a purse or other carrying bag. So, I have just ordered the Bump case which should allow the protection of a case and the versatility of using the tablet without having to remove the tablet.
The pictures of the Bump case I downloaded from the internet apparently were of a 12” or larger laptop with more wrist space. Since the handle does not appear to be removable, my homemade wrist pad for typing on the keyboard won’t fit too well in front of the case. Should I create another one to use when I’m using the case?
The major thing going for the T580 is the size and portability, not comfort!

Great computer for on-site processing.
Date:April 21, 2012
Pros: Design, Durability, Battery Life, Features, Screen Size
Cons: Keyboard, Weight
I use the T580 to process inspection reports at the site. I love the touch screen using my fingers. The stylus is too finicky for my reports. I have it in a bumper case for protection. It has been knocked over, but keeps working. I have been using Fugitsu ultra-tablets for years with great reliabilty. I have two T580s, one for backup. I would highly recommend the T580 for its ultra portability, touch screen and reliabilty.

This is a great tablet. Small, light, great screen and even a keyboard with it. Better than an IPad, more powerful and with both touch screen and a stylus - nobody else makes one like this. All the features for touch gestures and hand writing recognition are excellent!

Cons: Battery Life
I travel a lot and hate having large, bulky screens. This screen is large enough to see, without taking up all the space. I love that I can turn the screen in either direction. I am a computer novice, but I would recommend this computer to anyone in my position. Very user friendly. I wish the battery lasted longer, but who doesn't?

I do recomend this product
Date:August 17, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Battery Life, Features, Keyboard, Screen Size, dual finger input
Cons: Battery Life
Nothing is perfect and nothing can ever be. There are some problems with this computer but I would not ask for my money back. The viewing angle is good from laptop mode, when in slate mode what is the bottom of the screen in laptop mode has poor viewing angle but the top is great. The speaker is not powerfull enough for my hearing. It is possible for the battery to last for a long time, if configured to do so. I do like this computer quite abit. When configured to operate in high performance the computer has enough power to watch movies and compile programs. I have not had issues with the pen however, I have had some issues with the touch input. I realize that this issue is in fact an issue with microsoft but I have large fingers and I frequently miss a button and the software is not smart enough to figure it out. All things considered I do recomend this computer, it is worth the money.

Perfect! Except for...
Date:June 10, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Features, Screen Size
Cons: unresponsive pen input
I bought this tablet to replace my very old tablet. I wanted the most portable tablet with a real processor, full version of windows, adequate memory & storage, touch and pen input with (most importantly) and active digitizer.
I had mine custom made, so it is everything I wanted. It can do everything I need a computer to do and is very portable.
My favorite thing about it is the display. It's so crystal clear & sharp. I can fit much more in the 10.1" screen, than I could on my old tablets 12.1" screen.
The touch interface is very good. I have no problem touching the right spot even when the words are smaller then my fingers.
The keyboard is small, but I quickly got used to it.
The internal speaker is quite soft, but at least it's clear. My cellphone speaker is louder, but it sounds bad at that volume anyway.
I find the battery life decent. It's as expected for a computer of this caliber.
I love everything about this tablet, except for one thing.
That is the pen input digitizer. It is extremely unresponsive. When you tap the screen hard with the pen it doesn't register a click. You need to press the pen on the screen with force for it to register a click. When writing, you can run the pen all over the screen without it registering anything. You need to forcefully push the pen down to get any sort of line, if the pressure is light you don't get anything. This makes it near impossible to write in tablet mode, because you have to hold it so tight and push so hard against it, for it to work.
If fujitsu would come out with a update that made it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the digitizer, it would be the perfect machine.
If you're not going to use the pen much, it's a great little machine.
If you plan to use this tablet to take hand written notes, and such (like I had planned to). Stay away until the digitizer can respond to touches and taps of the pen, instead of only hard pressing.

cheap plastic feel with poor screen viewing angle
Date:April 21, 2011
Pros: Security, Features, Keyboard
Cons: Battery Life, Weight, Design, Durability, Screen Size
-the viewing angles on the display are extremly poor the slightest deviation and the colors look different
- the pen uses an AAAA battery to function, heavy to use plus not very responsive
- the case is made of cheap plastic , and feel cheap tothe touch and fragile. bottom access panels will break if not handle carefully.
- 3 cell battery lasts 1.5 hours !!!!!!!! tested on normal use browsing internet only, on default power saving windows 7 plan.
- the noise level is good but still louder than su9300 in P1630
- screen is 5'' x 9'' really narrow, unexpected 1'' surrounding plastic
- the hinge is made out of two parts and cannot be twisted when the screen is layed flat as the keyboard
- the touch is great but the resolution is so high you'll need to increase font size to hit the right spot
- i have and i5 560um 2 gb 160gb , it is a farcry this machine , for the money you are not getting much product from fujitsu

Almost Perfect
Date:March 21, 2011
Pros: Weight, Design, Security, Durability, Features, Keyboard, Screen Size
Cons: Battery Life
I purchased the T580 to replace my older HP tablet. I commute on a bike 5 miles to and from work everyday, so I wanted something small enough to fit in my bag (wouldn't kill my back) and still powerful enough to be productive. For those needs alone this is a near perfect machine.
With the 6-cell battery, the ports, the touch screen with stylus, the large hd capacity and the quick performance this is my can-go-anywhere machine. Got stuck at the DMV for three hours after their system went down--no problem. Read for a bit using Kindle PC then put on a movie for myself and my three new friends from the line we were in. The T580 actually made the wait kind of fun.
There are some issues, though. I had to do some work with the drivers to get the touch screen and buttons up to speed. The system is a bit buggy to begin but I've worked out most of the kinks.
Wishlist:
Longer battery life (currently around 5 hours)
Charge time (a little slower than I'd like)
Autorotation (still a little buggy)
A unicorn (or maybe just a pony)

T580 Tablet Review
Date:March 20, 2011
Pros: Weight, Battery Life, Features, great processor and pretty good graphics
Cons: Keyboard, can't quite run netflix on fullscreen
It's really nice to have nice processor and halfway decent video in a tablet; the major drawback with this computer is the keyboard. I upgraded from an old Dell Mini 10v, and that computer had horrible battery life and a really slow CPU, but the keyboard was almost full-size, and I could touch-type on it. The T580 seems to have an inexplicably small keyboard, with the comma, period, and forward-slash keys smashed into the space that two keys should occupy. The right shift key is smaller, and leftward of where it seems it should be, leading me to type the up-arrow key when I need a capital letter. I'm hoping I'll get used to it, but I bought the computer for taking notes at meetings, and so far, I can't keep up. I Fujitsu had moved the arrow keys down a skitch, so that the up-arrow key was next to the right-CTRL key instead of next to the right shift key, it probably would be a lot easier to type on. I was also surprised, with the graphics card in the T580, that it runs full-screen Netflix a bit poorly (with some pixellation, delays, and hiccoughs,) although, again, it's better than my old Dell.

I really like this computer
Date:March 13, 2011
To me this is the ideal tablet. It runs Windows 7 and has a CPU that actually runs my apps (versus the Atom processors that are just too slow...). The size is just about perfect. Yes, the T580 comes with a keyboard so it's obviously much thicker than say an iPAD, but I like having a keyboard, so that's a good tradeoff for me (ideal is the detachable keyboard that HP had in their T1100). I have the i5 version, but I've used the i3 version as well and that also seems to do a decent job of running my apps. Since I crunch numbers I went for the 6-cell battery which is the same size as the 3-cell, but it does add weight. Overall, this is really a great system. If you're looking for a Tablet PC, then I'd strongly recommend the T580.
