This is the first Fujitsu that I have owned. I have seen a few others with them while I am traveling and my old roommate had one and I liked the size, weight and features.
I will be the first to tell you that these computers are a little pricy, even more when loaded like mine. Here is what I have:
T731 i7 - 2620m processor, vPro 8 gigs of memory Windows 7 Professional 64 bit (that was actually no cost to upgrade) Duel Digitizer (basically Pen and touch screen) Triple Writer (Blu Ray/DVD/CD writer) 67 Watt/hour Main Battery Modular Bay Battery 500 GB Hard Drive
Basically everything they had except MS Office (I already own that) and Mobile Broadband (my Phone is a hotspot).
I travel weekly (live in one city and work in another) so I am constantly on airplanes 90 percent of the time in economy so working with the tray table down and the passenger in front of me with their seat back was a priority. This machine can do that for me, just turn the screen around, grab your pen and get to work. The only thing that is a little annoying is the head phone jack is on the other side (front) so make sure your headphones have a long cable and I would recommend a 90 degree plug or adaptor for the headphone jack so the plug is not sticking straight out.
With the modular bay battery and the main battery I regularly get 7 to 8 hours of power NO problem. I have not tried a DVD or BLU Ray with just the main battery yet (most of my films I covert to MPEG or MP4 so I don’t have to use the drive unless I need to write something or load something). I will admit, it is a bit heavy with both batteries in the machine, but I will take the weight for the extra 4 hours of life.
I work every machine I have ever owned and so far the T731 is a "beast" (my colleagues gave it a name). The thing moves - I have had Outlook, I-Tunes, Adobe 9 Pro, Internet Explorer and a specialized awarding program that uses a ton of math calculations all running a once; on batteries on a plane. When I opened the task manager it was only using 47% CPU.
I have only begun to edit some videos on the machine and so far, so good. No delay while assembling or sequencing.
I like this computer, again the price is a little high, but as the saying goes … you get what you pay for.
This computer is outstanding quality. It is so easy to set up and use that we were up an running in minutes. I would recommend Fujitsu products highly.
very surprised at the overall quality and performance of this machine. It is a bit pricey but this IS the best laptop I have ever owned. I wish the screen was a bit more high def but I love this product and would recommend to anyone
I have been a faithful Fujitsu user since 2004. I have owned many lifebook computers but this one is by far the best one ever. Thanks Fujitsu, as a busy physician, your product makes my workflow using a EMR (electronic medical record) so much easier.

Pros: Weight, Battery Life
Cons: slow
I had to replace another laptop/tablet that I had had for 6yrs as it got a windows error in it that we couldnt get cleared. I would have thought that a new computer would be faster, but it is MUCH slower. Have to wait between every click. I run medical software and would never get this computer again as it adds alot of time to my day. The rest of the computer is fine and for normal internet, etc it might be ok.

Pros: Weight, Design, Durability, Battery Life
Cons: Screen Size
I own 12 lifebooks for my business. (Medical Practice) including several that are 6 years old. All are still in service and get hard use for 6-12 hours per day. Upgraded my T5010 to this mostly because of hard drive space, also wanted to move to Windows 7. This has been easy upgrade, and the computer has been great, no issues and very good performance on everything I run. Considered buying cheaper tablet/convertible but decided the quality was worth the price. So far, no regrets. Superior battery life big issue for me.
touch screen useful but my fingers are a little too big sometimes. Still use stylus most of the time.
Minor issues, got screen designed for use in bright light, and is a little flat (low contrast) if not viewed straight on. did not need this feature, but thought might be cool for vacation and was included in the discounted package that had everything else I wanted. Also mouse pad is a bit touchy, tap once is like left mouse click and I am always clicking when I want to be just moving mouse. I am sure there is a setting for this, but have not really looked for yet. Lighter weight is great but sometimes miss my bigger screen from my T5010.
This is not my first tablet. I also own a T-4220 which I've had for years. It, itself is quite a nice piece of work. I really didn't expect that much of an improvement with this T731. HOWEVER ..
This new unit is even more solid, has nice grip textures on it, an even better screen hinge, and of course touch. It's also cool running too. I have to say I'm impressed and quite pleased with this new model. It's quality and state of the art design thru and thru. The only thing I might change is the screen resolution so I don't need my readers with it but 1280 screen resolutions seem to be the coming standard for the industry and it does give me more screen space.
Cons: would like it thinner and lighter, a bit pricey compared to others
Functionalities are there to carry everywhere and most importantly, simplicity is there everywhere (packaging is simple; launching it and using it is simple; functions buttons and options are kept simple; keyborad and screen protections are kept simple) , particularly for a non-IT expert. protection No fluff that one will never need; just right.
This is my second Fujitsu tablet PC, upgrading from t4110. This machine is blazing fast, fantastic battery life, and really solid build. If you are looking for a real tablet with a full operating system, hearty processing power, and convenience (swapping DVD drive out for extended battery is incredible!), this is the only machine for you. Fujitsu has been making tablets for far longer than Apple and they know what they are doing.
I originally purchased the new Samsung Series 7 Slate because I was looking for a change from my last Fujitsu - what a huge mistake! I returned it immediately, it doesn't hold a candle to the t731. Although the Samsung design is slick and modern, emulating the Ipad tablet consumer market, the build quality was horrible, and the processing and battery life was sub-par. It was pure case of form over function, sadly a common problem with the tablet market Apple has been redefining. It is unfortunate, since people are throwing down 600+ dollars for machines that can do a tenth of what a full laptop does. Don't be fooled!
The t731 is a quality product from a tested company who knows the tablet market so well. The physical tablet buttons are incredibly useful - all the moving parts work beautifully. My last Fujitsu tablet had no problems, save for some minor wear and tear on the casing, so I expect this one will stand the test of my computing for the next several years. Don't fall for the slick designs of the new tablet market - they have a long way to go to match what Fujitsu delivers in a traditional convertible laptop experience.
I enjoy the entire package - not too small, not too large. Love the swivel screen as it can become compact. Most of all, love the ability to sketch on my own drawings, or google earth to relay design issues with a client or staff.

A Great Laptop
Date:November 24, 2011
This is a great laptop computer. It's versatility as a laptop or tablet is fantastic. The computer travels well. I find it compact and lightweight. It is not cumbersome. The computer meets all my needs. I am very pleased with this purchase. I only wish I had discovered it earlier. If so I would not have made a previous purchase under a different brand name.
